Hampidjan at world's biggest seafood show

The world's largest seafood event, the European Seafood Exposition (ESE), is taking place in the Belgian city of Brussels this week. It opened yesterday  morning and is set to continue until Thursday. Hampidjan is again taking part following a successful exhibition there last year, with fishing gear sales and marketing manager Haraldur Árnason and sales manager Gestur Rúnarsson representing the company.

Haraldur Árnason said that it is important for a company such as Hampidjan to have a presence and to be able to meet both existing and potential customers.

'Our main focus at this event is to introduce our new mackerel trawl design as this is a much wider-opening version of the mackerel gear than before. We're also showing the latest Dynice warps that more and more trawler operators are moving to. The Dynice Data headline sounder cable is now in widespread use and we can say that it has exceeded all our expectations. Of course, we'll also be showing other products from the Hampidjan range.,' he said.

As in previous years, the ESE  is split into two, with one area for seafood producers and the second zone for companies supplying services and equipment to the seafood industry. According to Promote Iceland, there are 33 companies taking part under the Iceland banner, with 15 service and supply companies and 18 seafood producers. In addition, there are five other companies taking part, including Hampidjan.

The ESE website states that with 26,000 visitors from 146 countries attending the event last year, this year's attendance is not expected to be any less than last year's.
